I enjoyed every minute of Ex-Cite band performance when i was chilling out at Hard Rock Centerstage,Kuta,Bali.It was a total blast!!

Trip to Bali : 2nd day 21st March 2007,Wed - Barong Dance
|

at the entrance of Barong Dance
|
|
|
The Barong Play represents an internal fight between good and evil spirit.Barong (a mythological animal) represents a good spirit and Rangda (a mythological monster) represents an evil one.
One of the actress is getting herself ready at the backstage....
The dances start with music over tone....
Followed by his friend the monkey,the tiger comes up.Three masked dancers appear,representing men making palmwine in the forest,whose child is killed by the tiger.The three men get angry and attack the tiger which is helped by the monkey.During the fight,the nose of one of the three men is bitten off.
1st ACT.
Two dancers appear,representing the servants of the Rangda ,looking for the servants of Dewi Kunti who are on the way to meet their Patih (Prime Minister).
2nd ACT.
The servants of Dewi Kunti come.One of the servants of the Rangda changes into a witch enters both servants to make them angry.They meet their Patih and go together to Dewi Kunti.
3rd ACT.
Dewi Kunti and her son,Sedewa come up.Dewi Kunti has promised Rangda to sacrifice Sadewa.A witch appears and enters Dewi Kunti.She becomes angry and orders Patih to bring Sadewa into the forest.The Patih is also entered by a witch so he does not have pity on Sadewa.Sadewa is then taken into a forest and tied up on tree.
4th ACT.
Unknown by Rangda,Siwa,God appears and gives Sadewa immortality.The Rangda appears,ready to kill Sadewa and eats him up but Sadewa is still alive.She then surrenders and asks him to redeem herself,Sadewa agrees and kills Rangda.The Rangda goes to Heaven.
5th ACT.
One of the servants of the Rangda called Kalika comes up before Sadewa and asks him to redeem herself too.Sadewa refuses.Kalika gets angry and change herself into a boar and fight Sadewa.The boar can be defeated.She then changes herself into a bird but get defeated again.At last she changes herself into a Rangda.Sadewa cannot kill her .In such circumstances,Sadewa meditates and then he changes himself into a Barong.Still the Rangda seens to be too powerful and the fight is still last.Followers of the Barong appear and help him fight the Rangda.
The Kris dance...as the closing of Barong dance.

Trip to Bali : 1st day 20th March 2007,Tue

Our 5D/4N trip to Bali begin here....We flew to Denpasar from LCCT at 1025am via Air Asia and safely arrived at Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1325pm.Once landed,we asked our tourguide,Wayan to bring us straight to any HALAL restaurant for lunch.And like what ppl who'd been to Bali told me...only Nasi Padang is the trusted HALAL food u have there(besides KFC & McD of course).Hehe.Well,I'm not surprised,though.
The first destination we headed was Ubud (quite a suburb area which located about 20-30mins away from Kuta).Here,we stayed at Greenfield Bungalow.(Sorry,no pics of the hotel/room taken).The scenery and conditions was very nice though.The hotel was built in the area of the paddy field,so every morning we decided to have our breakfast at the lobby area (which is so cossy),so that we can enjoy the serene view of the green paddy field while eating.
The first place that Wayan took us was the 'Sacred Monkey Forest'.Quite a few Puras/temple located in here.I wasn't sure how many cos i couldn't careless about the numbers.Anyway,the Balinese believed that all the monkeys here were sacred.Maybe it's becos the monkey represents Hanuman (one of the God in Hindu bible...i just assumed.pls correct me if i'm wrong).And they are very mischievous too.
After that,we headed to Pasar Ubud.Did a quick window shopping and made the 'to-buy' list in mind.Hehe.
Then, we were taken to Goa Gajah.This place is more like a historical place.Nothing much i can tell about this place.Personally,i do really find this place is boring.Besides the fact that i couldn't understand the Indonesian accent and got pissed off with the guy that at first looked like volunteering himself to be the guide and willing to explain everything about the place whom at last,ended up asking Rp20000 from us for the unrequested service.Geez...he could've mentioned about it from the beginning!
